[link]This is a teen Merida drawing i've been working on for the last little while, it ended up being an easy but time consuming project that I worked on when given the chance.
I would like to apologize for this photo, my lighting here is terrible right now and I will try to get a new one up tomorrow!
The colored pencils are there for a reason; those are actually the only colors I used in the hair (+ a light orange marker and a brown pencil I used for a little bit before I lost it lolol). It took a lot of blending and stuff...but yeah, that's it!
I saw this movie a while back and liked it a lot more than I had expected. I thought it was good but a bit silly at times, I won't give away spoilers, but I liked the first 20 minutes more than the rest! When I got home from seeing it I did a bit of doodling and I ended up with this.
My sketch took maybe 5 minutes and was a tiny face surrounded by a blob of brilliant curls. I didn't like the sketch very much, but some stupid force inside of me said I should color it...and 15 hours later, here we are! I'm still not super fond of it, but I'm glad I finished it.
I actually consider this a portrait of two things; Merida, and Merida's hair. Omfg that hair. Needless to say, I won't be attempting to draw curly hair again any time soon, it was such a hellish pain in the ass that left me complaining to everyone in earshot while working on this. Sorry mom and dad! The most difficult part were actually the eyes...they are also my least favorite part
